Find Your Voice !
I know that’s probably a weird thing to say when it comes to photography but think about it for a second. What does your body of work say about you as a artist? Does your work say anything and if not, do you want it to?
That’s what finding your voice is about!
My voice is the reason why I picked up a camera in the first place. There was so much that I wanted to express with something more than words. More than a ramble that’ll go in one ear and out of the other. That’s what made photography so beautiful to me.
At first, I came up with projects that touched topics like personal philosophies and such. Recently, I started to challenge myself more with my photo topics. I decided to use my art as a way to make people think and feel. There’s so many subjects to touch base on, so many messages to spread.
“I want my work to make people observe themselves, the world and decide to be better” is what I thought to myself one day. Not in a “Look at me , I’m so good” type of way but in a sincere way. When I look at the world, I see so much wrong being done, so much hurt being caused. To us, By us, It’s alarming.
I don’t think that my work can or should be seen as a solution but I’d hope that my work would make someone observe a bit more.
When it comes to a portrait or a photo of a stranger, I’d hope that someone would stare and think of their story, what they went through, where they are going, etc.
My love for humanity and desire to bring us closer created my voice in my photography.
Now tell me, have you found your voice?
