Alright, alright. While I think highly of many of the artists I’ve written about prior, Kaskade is my ultimate dude. He’s the friend you don’t always talk to but you know he’s always there. You can lose touch and still come back together a year later feeling like not one minute was lost. He’s the steady one – the one you can always rely on.
For those unfamiliar, I live in Colorado, home to Red Rocks Amphitheater. I attended college just a couple of hours away in Laramie, Wyoming, so my friends and I were always here, and I mean always. I first attended a show at Red Rocks for Kaskade’s Freaks of Nature tour in 2012. I’ve seen him live a handful of times since and have never fallen disappointed, not once.
His versatility, above all else, is what sets him apart. He slays holiday music, house music, and straight up pop music. He can throw it down and drop your ass to the floor then turn right around and trigger the waterworks. And my god, this man can bring tracks back to life like nobody’s business.
His most recent album, released on April 4, 2020, is titled (aptly so), “Redux 004.” This album gives us a little bit of everything – the house, the pop, the booty dropping and the tears. It’s a short one, ringing in at four tracks total, but it’s all about quality over quantity, am I right or am I right?
