Aye, What's up man! Truly appreciate you supporting us all the way from Canada! It's insane for me to even think that UG has gone "Global" and I haven't left the Eastern part of the United States in the physical sense. So much love for all the support you show to us and the UG Fam! Start us off by telling us a little about yourself and how you decided on the name Prophecy? It's very fitting by the way! Haha!
Thanks man I really appreciate the support the UG family gives me and it is really crazy how big its gotten. I guess to start off this conversation my name is obviously Prophecy, im 19 years old living in Toronto, ON. I love to create things, that could be doing Photography, Graphic design, Making videos or anything else I just love to do it. I also really enjoy playing hockey and playing video games! I decided on calling myself “Prophecy” back in 2014 before I was really a “creative” of any sort. I got the idea of the name by a song titled “A Prophecy” by a band called Asking Alexandria. I am one of those people that are just obsessed with music i’m constantly listening to something and at that time of my life that one song resonated with me like nothing else ever did, it helped me when I was at a real low point and it kinda felt like a part of me in a way. And being at the age of 14 where your making all of these huge transitions in your life like going to high school, getting a job, and for me especially moving into making youtube videos… it just suited me.
When or how did you stumble upon us? I'm always intrigued to hear about how people either found us!
When I started to really get into Photography I was seeing the Urban Gorillas name everywhere! I didn't really know too many photographers online so I was always looking at other peoples work trying to meet some people that live near me and so many of them were affiliated with you guys! I finally decided to actually look into what you guys were about and it turned out it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for! And the rest is history.
So what is the "Creative Scene" like over there? It's pretty much an all out competition over here in the United States! Haha! There's great support but I think everyone is chasing their version of the "American Dream" at the end of the day -- so sometimes it's a very hard for creatives to get a start into the entrepreneur world. Give us a little insight about what it has been like for you?
Honestly the Creative scene out here in Toronto is Phenomenal! Anyone that ive mentioned my work has always thought it is so cool and that really helped me get comfortable with talking to people about this type of work that I do, when I first started out I always had this thought in my head that people would think its weird or stupid but I have never came across a single person that has been like that, I have actually gotten a bunch of people say that they really respect my work ethic which I never thought would happen and its really nice to know that.
What is the overall vision or maybe I should say -- What is your Prophecy?
Overall I really just want to be the best that I can possibly be, I'm getting there and making good progress but I really haven't even gotten started yet. I want to be that person that everyone can look at and get some sort of feeling or motivation, like I just want to do something so huge that when people look at me they think “wow he really made it” I want to do something so impactful that a movie can be made about it. I don't just want to create my own Prophecy I want to help others create their own.
As always man, we love to close out with a quote/saying that keeps you motivated! What's some wise words you can leave us with?
Sure I got some wise words that I can spread! One thing that I always try to keep in the back of my head is a lyric “Come rain on my parade, cause I wanna feel it” To me the rain resembles anything negative in your life, I don't care if it is the smallest issue ever or if is something very traumatic don't let it get to you and bring you down… embrace it. If you let that negativity in your life get to you, your gonna be in a dark place constantly just like I use to be, Think of it as experience because in the end it will only make you stronger and smarter! I have a tattoo on my arm to remind myself to keep that mindset every day for the rest of my life.
