It’s the season for new music. This time of year is always abundant with chirpin’ birds, long days and ripe musical pick’ns. Odesza released their “No Sleep – Mix.12” a month ago as a Springcoming treat for the people. It was a beautiful mix, to say the least, but there was one track in particular that caught everyone’s eyes – ehem, ears.
The issue was that no one could figure it out, and the song was so bewitching that people found it impossible to let it go. No one could find the track. No one could find a sample. “??? – ???” listed as a description on the mix’s tracklist was the only clue available. Listeners had become exceptionally hopeful, hypothesizing that this was an unreleased Odesza track. In hindsight, it’s clear to see that this wasn’t hope – it was intuition.
On April 28, American duo Odesza and Australian producer Golden Features announced two singles from their collaborative project, BRONSON. The first single? “Heart Attack.” This is it. This is the song. This is proof that Odezsa is incomparable even without their title. People don’t listen to Odesza because Odesza is cool. People listen to Odesza because this music is beautiful, and how do you take music so stunning and make it totally and completely unmatched? You marry it with Golden Features.
This is a music-lover’s Heaven on Earth. The LP is scheduled for release on July 17, 2020. I can assure you BRONSON followers across the world will have “HEART ATTACK” and “VAULTS” on repeat until that fateful day. According to a press release, the LP is intended to reflect "their respective needs to challenge personal struggles, both internal and external. Moreover, the trio recognized that their own battles were merely microcosms of the surrounding world. The hope was to craft a body of work that was reflective of that duality of lightness and darkness inherent to the human condition."
This project is three years in the making, which is to say there’s no way these three could have anticipated when scheduling the announcement of BRONSON just how much the world would need some musical respite. This is divine timing and that’s all there is to it. Bless the artists, now and forevermore.
