Mez. When I hear the name, I think of how much potential he has, especially among NC artists. Mez is a director, rapper, producer, and overall... an artist; and he’s amazing at each aspect of his creative work. All of these factors of who he is and what he can do come into play with his new video for “southside mez”. Upon my first watch, this video managed to give me chills, something that’s quite rare for me. Southside Mez reads like a music video, but holds the weight of a short film.This attests to Mez’s passion for film making, having recently directed Jcole’s “Middle Child” in 2019. Whether you know him from this directed Music video (which has now racked up over 140m views), or his role on the Revenge of the dreamers album, it’s obvious Mez is gifted. These gifts are shown off in full light in this recent project. This dark music video has some powerful messages behind it, and while keeping it spoiler free, I highly encourage everyone to watch it with full attention.
