First & Foremost man I hope you're doing well! It has been an insane last couple of weeks between dealing with the ongoing pandemic situation and now the police brutality uprising sweeping across the US. What has it been like to be out there among the community protesting racial systematic injustice?
- It has been nothing like I've ever seen or experienced. I lived my whole life in New York City. I've been at probably a few protests but nothing like the ones I've recently been going to can ever compare to the unification I've been seeing and a part of. It feels right and great to be part of history and change rather than being on the sideline silenced as I have seen many do.
I know emotions were at an all-time high while you were there; was it mostly pain, anger? I've seen some people just pleading to be heard, while some people are looking to create complete anarchy, some just want to be around others that feel the way they do.
- It was not only anger or anything like that. It was more like everyone was just tired of all of this happening and police brutality. Everyone was tired of nothing changing. It was more of feeling strong and united between everyone that came and took part in these protests.
Some of the craziest shit we've seen going on is the looting & rioting. Are you ( or were you) scared or nervous that things will get too out of hand? or get arrested?
- No, I know my risks and anyone does when taking part in any protests and I was going to be there regardless of what happened. I will stand, fight, and do whatever it takes to do my part. When I'm there, I feel more inspired by the unification of everyone rather than scared of what can happen. These looters and anyone who has been destroying things was a shocker to me because this doesn't happen at the protests I have participated at. Because of these looters and riots, it causes peaceful protests to look bad but that's not how it is at all.
What is something positive that came out of the protest you attended?
- I know I keep saying unification between everyone but it's honestly what I see when I'm there. That is one of the most positive things I have seen. Every background, whatever it is, they are all there protesting together because we are all just tired of nothing changing but we all demand change. We are all in this together and we will stand together.
I think we're all in need of some motivation right now, what are some inspiring or much-needed words you can leave us with?
- Silence is as bad as being against all of this. Don't be afraid to make your voice heard and to stand up for what's right. Lastly, don't care about what your family, friends, or anyone will say about you.
