Sven Gamsky is one of a kind. He marches to the beat of his own drum and we love him for it. His quirkiness shows through in his productions, which I think is part of what makes his music so charming and magnetic. Funk, indie, R&B, electronic, and pop aren’t genres you’d think would go together, but Gamsky alone has the secret recipe for the delicious genre-bending treat that is Still Woozy.
Gamsky is best known for his 2017 release, “Goodie Bag,” (my personal favorite) and his 2019 release, “Habit.” “Goodie Bag” seems to be about a breakup and “Habit” seems to be about, well…sex. “I could let you have it, you could be my habit” could mean something either far more pure or far more complex, but I just don’t know, you know? His newest release, “Window,” stays the course with what seems to be a story of pure, unadulterated lust. Regardless of the topic, Gamsky’s music unfailingly makes us feel totally lightsome. Gamsky insists through his Still Woozy productions that we drop the seriousness, wiggle around, and shake it off.
