One of my girl friends Cooper Cercy of Cercy Collective (your go-to spot for all things wellness and makeup) is always hooking me up with the best new tunes. Bless the ones whose know music is a Love Language (I’m telling you, those people are the people). My Golden Birthday was on Friday, February 28 and first thing in the morning, this girl sent me the new Surfaces album, Horizons. This album is the total embodiment of all things gold and light, so it was too fitting. Not only that, but the album was released that day and you bet your sweet ass I told myself it was released on the 28th as a birthday gift just for me.
Surfaces, made up of Colin Padalecki and Forrest Frank, did what Surfaces does and released a full nudisco/pop production that carries itself with the same sunny disposition of the two albums prior. With Spring not but three weeks away, this album could not have come at a more perfect time. Horizons does what Spring does – melts away the snow showers and replaces them with fresh flowers.
Padalecki and Frank are the brightest rays of light, explaining on their website that “our music exists to spread love and positivity across the world. for those hurting, for those lost, we want every song to be a pathway that can lead anyone to brighter days. we often write our songs in ways that can better relate to the listener, so that they can be serviced by the stories and emotions we hope to capture with our words.” With nearly 14 million monthly listeners on Spotify, it’s clear to see that they’re successfully doing what they came here to do.
